Positive results from animal studies on coriander and belly fat In one study on rodents, researchers examined the effects of dietary supplements with coriander seeds on visceral adipose tissue lipid storage in growing rats. After 5 weeks, researchers noted a difference in the visceral fat among different rodents. Although there was no effect on the lipid content of the liver, there was a significant increase in the amount of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids in the visceral adipose tissue, which in turn, also decreased the fatty acid content. It was also found that adding 2-4% of coriander seed into a quail`s diet significantly reduced abdominal fat deposits and increased PUFA.

Coriander seeds also have a compound that alters the lipid metabolism of the body. Put simply, it encourages the body to dissolve fat and pass it as waste instead of storing it. According to one study, it was revealed that 2g of ground coriander a day was enough to drastically influence the lipid parameters in the body. This means your body won`t store fat in the future.

So, if you`re feeling a bit bloated or just want to shed some extra kilos, having coriander seeds, say, 2 tablespoons a day, can help you do that. It`ll essentially make your body break down fat and dissolve it quicker than before. In addition to aiding in the dissolution of fats, eating coriander seeds can also contribute to weight loss by boosting your metabolism. When exercising, the body naturally uses up more energy and converts existing fat stores to keep it going.

Coriander is rich in potassium, which is used by the body to help break down certain carbohydrates. Doing so will convert the carbs in your body into energy, instead of fat.
