In a nutshell:

I Skipped Breakfast For 1 Month and This is What Happened And contrary to popular belief, skipping breakfast doesn`t have an all negative effect on the body and mind. You`d be surprised by the wide range of benefits it brings, from boosting productivity to reversing the aging process. Just stick around until the very end to know what happens when you skip breakfast for a month: One benefit that you`ll experience when you leave out breakfast for a month is it gives you an anti-aging effect. Aside from exercise, extended fasts like skipping breakfast are effective at speeding up autophagy.

According to microbiologists, if you skip the morning meal as part of your intermittent fasting, it increases the mucus levels required for the growth of good bacteria. This is good news because it burns fat and improves muscle mass as the body uses fat as fuel instead of sugar. For some, leaving out breakfast and eating a little later could help with hunger. And speaking of benefits that don`t directly affect the body, skipping breakfast might also help in making your brain sharper.

Not eating breakfast means you`re practically fasting, and twelve hours or more of fasting switch the body over to ketosis. Ketosis takes place when the body burns fat instead of carbs for fuel. Fat is actually an excellent fuel source for both the brain and the body. And so, considering all those, skipping breakfast can make you sharper.

Believe it or not, skipping breakfast doesn`t make you overweight. In fact, according to a dozen randomized trials, people who skip breakfast don`t consume a lot more at subsequent meals to make up for it. And surprisingly, on average, people who don`t eat breakfast consume 260 fewer calories each day, meaning, they`ve lost a couple of pounds a month. Again, as we`ve briefly mentioned, skipping breakfast forces a metabolic switch on your body.

This switch is called the ketogenic state, wherein your body burns fat instead. This is good because a safe ketogenic state accelerates the body`s natural fat-burning mechanisms by causing your body to turn to fat stores for energy. Over time, it makes you leaner because your body will burn more fat for fuel, in addition to consuming fewer calories. All those advantages sound good, right? Can you overcome the disadvantages of skipping breakfast and get to the good part? Breakfast positively affects cortisol, one of the primary stress hormones.

Cortisol plays an essential role, as it has important functions like helping store glucose and fat for energy and managing stress. Most times, cortisol levels are at their peak at about 7 in the morning. But by skipping breakfast, your cortisol levels stay elevated, and you`re likely gonna feel anxious or jittery. Eating a meal in the morning helps restore blood sugar and stabilizes insulin levels.

The body requires a consistent stream of energy in the form of food as fuel to function properly. Furthermore, your body then releases hormones to signal to the brain that you need food.
