Preparing your gym essentials
To achieve your peak performance, you’ll need to come prepared.

Below are the things you should take with you to the gym:

1. Gym-appropriate training gear
2. Gym shoes
3. Towel and shampoo
4. Post-workout snack
5. Water bottle

One of the most important aspects of a good workout is a proper warm-up. More about this next:

Warming up
Lots of self-conscious individuals tend to go straight to the treadmill or worse, weight machine just to try to prove their worth.

We hate to break this to you but this is such a big mistake, albeit very common among rookies.

Warmups prepare the body for the demands of exercise, allowing the muscles to loosen up, thus, reducing the risk of injury.

So, before your treadmill session or next weights, spare 5-10 minutes of your time to warm up first.

Here’s what a good gym warm-up looks like:

1. Static hip flexor stretch (30 to 60 sec each side)
2. Deep lunge with hip circles (5 reps each leg)
3. Single-leg calf raise (15 reps each side)
4. Downward dog walk-out (5 reps)
5. Band shoulder dislocate (10 reps)
6. Lunge with overhead reach (20 reps)

Do you know what a rowing machine is? What about the leg press machine?

Learn about them and some other machines you can expect to find in the gym here:
