African Americans or Black individuals are about 20% more likely to get colorectal cancer and about 40% more likely to die from it than White individuals according to the American Cancer Society (2020). Colorectal cancer is preventable with regular screening that identifies and removes abnormal cell growths or polyps before they become cancer.
